Greater Adjutant Stork Lapel Pin - Hargila Army
HARGILA ARMY
Pioneered by wildlife biologist Dr. Purnima Devi Barman, the Hargila Army is an all women conservation team of rural women in Assam with currently 10,500 pledged members which dedicated to protecting the endangered Greater Adjutant Stork (called Hargila in Assamese) from extinction. These women have formed self help groups who are now entrepreneurs in their own right. With looms provided through the Greater Adjutant Conservation Program led by Dr. Barman, Aaranyak, they have been weaving gorgeous handloom attires with unique conservation motifs, especially of the Hargila stork.
This Greater Adjutant Stork Lapel Pin is the symbol of the conservation efforts of the women of Hargila Army.
